The Chaplaincy Endorsement Commission fills a position military and civilian organizations assume all faiths have: a denominational headquarters with certification power over its membership. Obviously this poses a real problem for those in the Christian Churches and churches of Christ wishing to serve the Lord through a chaplaincy role, as our brotherhood has no such superstructure.
The CEC is a small organization that will certify for chaplaincy work those meeting its academic and experience standards. CEC also keeps contact with those it certifies, offering support, counselling, and networking services to help maintain the emotional and spiritual strength for this unique work.
While Friendswood sends monthly support (10% of income) to several mission works in the states and abroad, we support CEC through a single, annual gift collected on Memorial weekend Sunday, so please remember to set aside an extra offering for this unique work in the Lord's kingdom.
